How to test a palette as a family of surfaces rather than isolated favourites.
Choose an anchor
Begin with the surface that occupies the most space or is hardest to change. A floor, large joinery wall, or existing stone feature can provide a reference for the rest of the palette.
Compare in real light
Place samples together at different times of day, and view them horizontally or vertically as they will be installed. A wall finish and a worktop catch light differently, even when their colours seem similar on a desk.
Record the decisions
Label samples with product references and finish information. Keep an agreed set for later checks so the intended relationship between colours, textures, and sheen survives procurement and installation.
